A Coating Problem or a Materials Problem?
Source : Yenchen Technical Process Consultant, Dr. Fred Rowley
Two different companies, two different tablests: same problem. Different sizes/shapes. Yet the bisect was never fully coated. And look at the other sections of these tablets, fully coated, nice coating, no issues. And compare these tablets with an even more difficult tablet to coat; yet no problem there.
How can this be?
The problem might be the conditions used to coat the tablets. The problem might be with the coating solution itself. The problem might be with the solution lines. But the problem is not due to the design of the tablet.
Actualy, the third tablet once had the same problem as the others. It was successfully fixed by changing the fittings on the solution lines from the pump to the guns. The fittings were allowing bubbles into the solution. The bubbles broke when they hit the surface of the tablet but they were trapped in the middle of the bisect. A simple thing overlooked can cost your company a lot of money.
