Critical Operating Parameters for Side Spray
Source : Yenchen Technical Process Consultant, Dr. Fred Rowley
Critical Operating Parameters
- Bowl Loading: Proper Use of Total Capacity
- 40-80% of total capacity
- As with blenders, granulators and coating pans, proper batch size is important for reproducible results.
- With this unit, the proper batch size is determined using the initial weight (volume) and final weight (volume). - Product Characteristics
- Coating material preparation and holding practices
- Total amount of liquid
- CFM Air velocity
- Type of fluidization - Air temperature
- Spray rate
- Gun type used: Relative position of the tip
- Atomizing pressure
- Disc type
- Disc height
- Expressed in mm.
- Also called "Slit Height".
- Allows process air into the rotary granulator.
- Height of the disc will change as the pellets get bigger.
- Some machines do not have this feature. - Disc speed
- Unit of measure is rpm.
- Usually constant.
- With large weight gains the speed may increase as the pellets increase in size. - Pellet Curing
