1. Type of blender used

2. Quantity of powder to be blended (Fill level)

3. The method of loading the blender

4. The use of pre-blending (yes/No)

5. Use of an intensifier bar/agitator

• Break up lumps
• Prevent cohesive powder from forming hot spots (small agglomerates)

6. Blending time

7. Lubricant blending time

• Insufficient blending of the lubricant is confirmed with tablets having (sometimes) picking and sticking and ejection problems with some portions of the blend.
• Excessive blending of the lubricant is confirmed with tablets having lamination/soft tablets throughout the entire batch. Tablets in many cases cannot achieve even minimum specification hardness. Lamination may occur in both the upper and lower regions of the tablet. Disintegration may or may not be affected and dissolution may be bad even when the disintegration is good.
