Operation The Controls on All Modern Tablet Presses:

4. Adjusting Pre-Compression Upper Punch Entry


  • Setting is usually in mm. Also called "Punch Penetration".
  • Control usually has a range from 1.5 to 4.0/6.0 mm.
  • For drugs and vitamins we recommend not deeper than 2.5mm.
  • A deep setting may be necessary to control fine particles from escaping during compression.
  • Going deeper also brings an increased risk of tablet capping.

Upper Punch Entry Control:
Penetrates Between 1.5 to 5.0mm into the die
But how do we use thing correctly?

Punch entry at 1.5mm / Punch entry at 3.5mm
Value indicates where punches will meet.
We recommend an initial setting of 2.0mm
Thickness is still set by moving the lower punch closer/further away from the upper punch.
